Herb Glossary

  • Calendula

Calendula is one of our favorite herbs for skin, which is why we grow it in abundance on our farm. It is a notoriously potent yet gentle skin-supporting herb.

Calendula is very soothing to the skin and exhibits anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal, and healing properties. Its colorful flowers are rich in flavanoids, which are phytonutrients found in most fruits & vegetables often rich in antioxidants that help the body ward off toxins.

  • Rose

Rose, the queen of flowers, hydrates, brightens, and restores dull skin. It can also help balance the skin's pH, reduce scarring, and prevent premature aging & wrinkles.

This infamous flower is a feel-good, smell-good garden goddess, packaged up to enjoy at any time.

  • Chamomile

Chamomile is a little ray of sunshine in flower form. We grow this herb and harvest her flowers just for our Wildflower Facial Tonic.

So naturally, chamomile is a wonderful tonifying herb that tightens pores. It also eases redness and calms unhappy skin thanks to its anti-inflammatory compounds like apigenin and azulene.

  • Tulsi/Holy Basil

Tulsi, also known as holy basil, is an adaptogenic plant with an intoxicating scent that grows in abundance on our farm.

It also does wonders for the skin. Feel good from the outside in with this balancing, protecting, and restorative herb.

  • Plantain

Plantain is an herb that grows all over, and is often disregarded as a weed. Plantain leaf is a must when it comes to many common skin issues.

It is antiseptic, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory - a go-to for herbalists to quickly assist anything from cuts to bee stings.

  • Comfrey

Comfrey is a skincare powerhouse. We harvest & use the unassuming but prolific leaf of this plant, which contains allantoin, a compound that boosts skin cell regeneration. It can also reduce inflammation and is commonly used to accelerate wound healing.

  • Lavender

Lavender is not only known for its delicious, soothing scent, but it is also notorious for its calming effect on skin and beyond. It soothes irritations and is especially gentle on sensitive skin.

It is a natural moisturizer, can help balance oil production and tones & tightens the skin.
